Branching Out This Winter

This has been a productive and happy year for me and for David’s Car Service. I have been all over MA, and parts of RI and NY, and I just agreed to drive someone’s car to FL for the winter.

Now I have found a couple of partners and friends to help on a very exciting project. Called C&D Services, we’ll be available to help folks in their homes throughout Metrowest, with things like Cleaning, Cooking, Moving, Shopping, Fixing and of course Rides.

Please check out our website, and tell your friends!!

Happy, happy holidays, and thanks for making my life more full.

David

Drivers Lament

True Bistro

I enjoy driving. Especially when the weather is good and the traffic is light.

In Boston, summer means good weather but LOTS of construction. Not complaining, but oy, and thanks for your understanding if our ride is delayed a bit. Luckily, the sweet spot of autumn and no construction is coming (hoping!)

Another frustration I find is that I learn of wonderful spots to check out (for instance, Cooky’s in Pawtucket, and True Bistro in Somerville), but often I am never able to get there when they are actually open.  Maybe you can check them out and let me know how they are.

As always, if you need a ride in Metrowest, I’m here for you.

August Special!

I’m enjoying the quiet of summer. Not necessarily the construction, but certainly the weather and the music and all the beautiful sites.

Because it’s my quiet time, I’m going to make you an offer. If you’ve ridden with me before, you get $10 off any ride $60 or more, during the month of August, when you mention this post.

Please ask me for business cards and magnets so I can meet some new people as well. Thanks!

Summer Doldrums Upon Us

Hi everyone,

Summer is so great because the weather is better and we don’t need to to spend our time eating, we can just chill a bit, and get lighter and hungrier for exploration, peace or creativity, whatever our soul needs.

This summer I’ve been to the beach, enjoyed lots of salads, some wonderful gazpacho, and lots of fruits, as well as enjoyed music, theater and walks.

What have you been doing? Where have you visited?

Please let me know if there’s any way I can help you get where you are going.

Taking The Bad With The Good

It’s interesting being a driver. I get to have great conversations with bright people, and see sights around the area that I would not otherwise see, even try restaurants I would not have known about.

The negatives? Well, I don’t want to dwell on the mundane with such complaints as the traffic (particularly when it’s raining, or particularly on Rt. 9), nor the high price of gasoline (actually, I pay just $3.289 these days at Cumberland Farms on Rt. 9 near 495).

The other day I did have a bit of a problem. I was contracted to pick up a man and three of his friends at the airport, and as my car is midsize, I thought it wise to have a larger car. So I found a wonderful friend (a client, originally) to loan me her van for some consideration, it was a late night pickup.

However, it turns out there was a mixup, and he was coming in the following night, and there I was waiting for him at 2am in someone else’s vehicle, an hour from home. I was proud of the way we both handled it though. He took responsibility for the mistake, but asked me how I could help him solve the problem. So I told him to “pack lightly” for the next night, as I was not going to pay again to borrow the van, but would just charge him about 20% again as a fee.

It worked out. Luckily, my car has a cavernous trunk, and his young friends were okay with one suitcase across their lap. Everything worked out just fine.

So I guess the lesson is, we take the bad with the good, and just smile and do the best we can and things generally work out for the best. I’m grateful for the opportunity.

Getting to the Beach this Summer

Hello, another gorgeous day in Framingham.

The college graduates have cleared out, and the high school graduates are packing up, and hopefully the traffic will be lighter for those of us left in the daily grind.

Between the vacations and the farming, and the kids who are at overnight camp, things may be a bit quiet for us too. Please keep us in mind for anything:

Ride to/from car service appointments

Ride to doctor’s appointment

Ride downtown for a ballgame or shopping or lunch

Even day camp

We are also rides to airports and train stations, as well as trips out of state, and to destinations within Massachusetts, such as the Berkshires, Cape Cod, the South Coast, and the beach.

Enjoy!

Who Uses David?

Stanley is one of my best clients. He’s a successful family man on the go, and he travels.

Fred is a new client in the media world who’s become a regular. He loves to chat, and I’m looking forward to taking him out for a beer.

Rhoda visits her grandkids across the pond. I just make her life easier. Anytime of the day or night.

Whether you are going to work, the mall, the airport or the train station, think of me.

I’m happy to carry your bags, have a bottle of water or newspaper handy, and I’m a safe and expedient driver.
