Snow Tires!

Just got 4 snow tires at Sullivan Tire in Framingham…

Love them! Great service, and a fair price as well. Bonus was I got to watch the Patriot’s parade while waiting for installation.

So I can take you wherever you need to go…provided it’s not cancelled by the snow!!

Stay safe,

David

New Car, New Rates, Same Great Service

Clients are loving my new black Honda Accord EX-L. It is very comfortable, and I offer bottled water and satellite radio to passengers, as well as smart-phone charging.

Here are some of the latest reasons people have chosen to Ride With David:

  • Going to the theater, and I was willing to drop them, pick them up, and help an unsteady client get out and into the car with a smile; $85 RT Framingham to Boston
  • Going to Logan Airport, and I was willing to go back to deliver a cell phone that was dropped behind the seat. $98 round trip Metrowest to Boston
  • Going to Preschool, and I was willing to put on shoes and hang up lunch bag, and play kid music for little Elaine. $25 round trip within Wellesley

Who I’ve Helped This Summer

Money is important. My son is at college as of last week, and I am grateful to be earning a living at a job I enjoy.

But I also help a lot of people, and sometimes I need to charge less in order to do that. Here are some of the people I’ve helped this summer:

Jim lost his license, and I’ve been generous, punctual, and extremely helpful to him;

Steve had a car accident, and I was able to help him with rides, but also stop for coffee, shopping, other errands, and even take him to and from the airport.

Margie just moved, and I’ve helped take her stuff to the dump, for recycling, and even helped her sell things on Craigslist and at a yard sale. She has also given me a number of items.

Jaye was laid up, and I helped take her to doctor and physical therapy appointments, and charged her less because of her fixed income.

There have been many more, such as Jimmy, Stephen, Norah, Tanya, Mike, Jodi and Cliff.

I guess I’m lucky to be able to help, and meet, so many nice people.

As summer nears its end, I feel blessed.

Life is a trip sometimes!!

I have a client in Maynard who is pretty cool, so after we drove him home on a Friday afternoon we hung out and chatted. I asked about his neighbor, and he mentioned his two jobs. Something clicked in my head and I said to him:

“I know his name!” Turns out, his next door neighbor is already a friend of mine. The odds were less than one in 10,000, but a few minutes later we were on the phone, and we will have coffee this week.

Life sure is interesting, in between all the pain and drama.

Attended the 2014 NE Auto Show Last Night

WhiteVetteWent to the convention center in Boston last night, and saw all the new models from major car companies. Very impressive display!! The new Corvette is quite tasty, I would love it as a plaything.

If you go to the show, remember they don’t give away any food 😦 , I guess it would mess up the cars. Enjoy!

My Drive to Florida

I always wanted to do the drive from MA to FL, and I had heard stories from Stan and Stephen, so it was a personal goal this year. Last week, I accomplished that goal, despite the worst weather in a long time.

Tom from West Boylston was my client, as he and his wife wanted their Lexus SUV for their wintering west of Orlando. Had they known what was coming, and the challenges for JetBlue, they might have gone earlier.

The drive was easy, particularly the first half. I breezed through CT, NY and after filling up on the Turnpike at just $3.12 per gallon, NJ as well. Unfortunately, cold weather traveled with me into Virginia as well, and I was happy to stay the night in Richmond and get some rest.

The next day I got an early start, and made it to Delaware fast. North Carolina was a breeze, but South Carolina brought a lot of traffic due to an accident. Eventually, I broke into Georgia and I knew Florida was next. I was excited to see Daytona Beach, but the weather there was inhospitable at best. I got out of there and headed south to Orlando.

Orlando was only 45 degrees at 2pm, and although I stayed there for another 36 hours, it never got above 50. Luckily, I was joined by thousands of others at the airport, all seeking to get onto a flight and finish their new year’s vacation with safe passage home. For many, patience was the word of the day. I was very lucky and got out only eight hours late.

There were some hiccups. The traffic in SC, the cold weather, the meal and phone charger I needed to buy when my flight was canceled. But I made it. My client Tom had even more airline struggles. He was four days late, but now begins his Florida time.

Next year? I’ll charge more!!

My Pet Peeves For Driving

I’m pretty easy going nowadays—you have to be when you drive a lot in Boston.

But certain things tick me off, as I’m sure you can understanding. Here are my top 10 driving pet peeves.

  1. Not signaling before a turn
  2. Signaling during a turn
  3. Signaling the wrong way (I just feel sorry for them)
  4. Not looking at all before pulling out (on the phone usually)
  5. Taking their time while crossing the street
  6. Not passing when there is plenty of space
  7. Not allowing people to pass because they fear oncoming traffic
  8. Slowing down to 10 mph for tolls
  9. Driving much slower than the speed limit
  10. Hogging the left lane
